The Learning Institute for the Growth of High Technology (L.I.G.H.T.) is a 17,000 square foot manufacturing training center located on the main campus of Penn United Technologies in Western Pennsylvania. L.I.G.H.T.’s main mission is to assess, design, and develop manufacturing training programs to meet the needs of our customers and employees.
Inside the institute are three classrooms and four labs equipped with the most up-to-date manufacturing machinery and state-of-the-art equipment so we can provide customized manufacturing training for both external customers and our internal employees.
L.I.G.H.T. offers manufacturing training to other businesses and industries through a roster of 25 courses and a growing selection of metalworking seminars and workshops. In cases where the standard program or course is not specifically what you want, we can customize your training. We also provide consultation assistance on a wide range of services spanning from metalworking to quality and lean manufacturing, to safety and more.

These programs offer you the knowledge and skills to achieve optimal results in precision metal manufacturing. Choose the training location that is best for you—train at our L.I.G.H.T. training facility or we can bring the training on site at your location.

Most of the manufacturing training conducted at L.I.G.H.T. for our internal employees is done in support of our 4 apprenticeship programs approved by the Pennsylvania Bureau of Apprenticeship Training (BAT) as well as 3 inter-company programs.
